New Approaches

After discussing among my peers, I have found new topics to further examine through.  One major topic that was discussed throughout my group was how realistic doctors are portrayed in these films/shows.  In Grey's Anatomy, I found that characters often face dilemmas due to their personal conflicts.  However, in reality, doctors do not have the choice to act upon their emotions.  Their job is to save people's lives, no matter what circumstances.  Another thought that popped into my mind was the relationship conflicts in Grey's Anatomy.  Workers are taught to maintain a professional behavior at their work space.  The relationships that are shown in films and shows are mainly to create suspense, which leads to higher views.  We usually do not see relationship conflicts between coworkers in a professional environment, especially at a hospital.

  1. I also picked Grey's Anatomy as my show to research and write about. I found your point about relationships very interesting and actually wrote something similar in my first paragraph draft. I wrote about how professionalism is demanded in their field, but in Grey's they tend to deviate from that and have workplace relationships which sometimes interfere with their work. In your paper, are you planning on writing about this or have you picked another topic within the show?

    1. Yes, I was planning describing the different conflicts the characters in Grey's face and how these conflicts create a dramatic effect that is not usually seen in real life.
